5 years ago I suffered from a brain tumor that burst and paralyzed the entire left side of my body. After surgery, I had to learn to walk, read and to many basic activities all over again. It took me a year to fully recover but I am back and stronger than ever thanks to the blessings, love, mercy and grace of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. |

When did you start in your sport?
My first competition was back in 1999. I competed off and on for 5 years and I've had to take the last 5 years off to recover from surgery plus I went to nursing school - I graduate in December (Yay!!) |

Best moment so far in your sport
I can't lie - the moments I've won have been great. There's no better feeling than having your name called and feeling rewarded for all of your hard work. I also love the friendships I made during the years I competed. The Ms. Fitness/World organization is great and the women I've competed with are wonderful. |

What do you enjoy about your sport?
I love the training and preparation that goes into a competition. I love the disciplined workout schedules, the clean eating, the whole lifestyle. The best part is performing and stepping out on that stage - I can't wait to get back to it!!! |

What are your goals in your sport?
Win Ms. Fitness USA and Ms. Fitness World. Be an inspiration to others like Monica has been to me, earn a supplement contract and be featured in fitness magazines. |
